We have a passion for helping the less fortunate.
With the help of 13 Rotary Clubs in the Ottawa area and the Rotary Club in Colombo, Sri Lanka, my wife Charmaine and I supplied 56 families with fishing boats -- to replace those that had been destroyed during the tsunami in 2004.
This family's house was swept away by the tsunami in 2004 -- all that was left was the floor. We provided funds so that they could build a floor for their new house which had been constructed by another group who ran short of funds to build the floor. The area was swampy and they could otherwise not inhabit the house.
With the help of 13 Rotary Clubs in the Ottawa area and the Rotary Club in Colombo, Sri Lanka, we built a community Centre for a fishing village. The picture below on the left shows my wife and I laying the cornerstone for the community centre. The picture on the right shows the completed community centre.
We are currently raising funds to assist women in Sri Lanka who lost their husbands during the civil war in Sri Lanka and have been displaced from their villages -- focusing on education for the children and development of a sustainable livelihood.
